Provide For Your Family                                       30 October 2017

Diligently and faithfully work to provide for your family: But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

1 Tim. 5:8

NOTHING WRONG IF YOU UNBELIEVE, BUT A TRUE BELIEVER WILL NEVER WANT TO DENY THEIR FAITH

This instruction is a New Testament command that comes with a judgment. It is an exhortation to diligence and faithfulness in work, in monetary gain of the household income. Here we find the importance of the household revenue, which identifies the father of a family as the provider of his wife and children. The father is to provide shelter, food, clothing, utilities and family resources that establish and sustain the members of his household. For this reason, it is much more important that families stay together in unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. The big movement, in our day and age, is to separate and divide the family as early as possible. This movement is having catastrophic effects on women and children and families everywhere. Ranging from infidelity and divorce, to abusive addictions and suicide. Families everywhere are under fire and it is seemingly much more important that fathers step up to the challenge of being the household priest and provider of his own. The father must lead, encourage, inspire, protect, provide, love, respect, and be a guardian of the faith. Verse eight says that a father who does not provide for his family has denied the faith and is worse that an unbeliever. What this literally means, is, if a father does not feed, clothe and shelter his wife and children, that the Faithfulness of God cannot find a resting place in his heart: or, God cannot trust him because he cannot trust God. Now, fathers everywhere ought to mandate the training of their sons to be gentlemen, honorable, righteous, faithful, loving, friendly, kind, patient, forgiving, respectful, obedient, loyal, providing, generous men of God. So that the next generation has a lasting chance to come into unity as a family of God. After all, there is only one family on earth, that is the family of God, where God Almighty is “Abba,” our Loving Heavenly Father and we are His children, through faith in His Son, Christ Jesus. This is our true spiritual identity and no one can take this from us, nor can anyone or anything take us from the family of God. We are the Fathers legal possession, paid for by the blood of Christ.
